summery: ChamDo has possessed a broad and flat terrain, and rich in water
resources. But there are so many shortcomings, such as poor conditions of the
basic facilities of farming and animal husbandry; low content of science and technology;
extensive mode of production; small sized former reservoir irrigation system;
poor management level of animal husbandry; low survival rate; small sized village
& township enterprise, small sized diversified economic management and low
beneficial result. Scale of construction: It is planned to build
ZhiTong diversion works with 13.5 kilometres in length. A 5 kilometres SangLa
canal. To open up a wasteland of 1,850 mu and 1,100 mu of land for agricultural
use. To build cattle fatten base, a milch cow farm and a piggery in Laduo, Toba,
Aixi and Gelung respectively. To plant economical woods and shelter-forest, and
extend a big shed vegetable base. Budgetary estimate of investment:
Total investment accounts for 2.8121 million USD. Preliminary preparation

To open up 2,950 mu of wasteland for agricultural use, the annual output would
increase 531,000 kilos according to per mu 180 kilos of grain output. It will
increase 1.35 million kilos of annual grain output by set up commercial grain
bases. According to the above accounting, it will gain an additional 1.881 million
kilos annually, and an additional economic profit of 453,300 USD annually after
deducting the cost. It is planned to increase the income of the masses and consolidate
the poverty-lifting rate by steadily developing the farming, forestry, animal
