progress has been achieved in the aspects of the telecommunication
capacity, network scale, and service level in Tibet. The postal
network, which joins the south and the north, the east and the
west, covers the vast area of the region and connects the region
with the rest of the country has been formed with the initial
scale. In 1999, the total revenue made from postal service in
the region reached 30, 701,000 RMB, which was 27.4% higher than
that of the year before. The achievement won the Excellence
Award in the Limited Time from the State Postal Bureau for the
region and improved the reputation of the postal service.
The postal and communicative capacity
in the region have been significantly strengthened, and the
level of technological equipment also has been improved. All
the bureaus in the cities ( except Ali) have all been equipped
with electronic devices to
realize the completion of customer service on one counter.
The Green Card project has been extended to several places
in the region. Computer network for postal service has been
initiated, which shall provide a modern platform for the postal
service upon its completion.
